Apartments Community Traditions

Apartments Community Traditions and Community Events

Throughout the year, the Apartments Community hosts a variety of traditions and community events that bring residents together to celebrate, connect, and build lasting memories. Explore some of their most popular annual traditions below.

Welcome Back Weekend

Every year during Welcome Back Weekend, the Apartments staff and student governments host events to welcome new and returning students to the University and the Apartments Community.

Family Weekend Duck Hunt

On Family Weekend, Residential Life staff hide thousands of rubber ducks around the community in the early morning hours for residents and their families to find throughout the day. Participants can turn in their rubber ducks for prizes. Most prizes are candy but there are larger prize baskets. The ducks disappear quickly, so happy hunting!

Groundhog Eve

Every year, around Groundhog's Day, the Apartments Community hosts its own Groundhog Day celebration with inside games, food, and fun. Residents make predictions on whether Gordy (the Apartments groundhog mascot) will see his shadow.

Apartments Carnival

A large-scale collaboration between the Apartments Community Governments and the Apartments Community Staff to celebrate the end of the school year in April or early May! With inflatables, games, food, photo booths, a dunk tank, laser tag, and more. This event is open to all residential students and our Binghamton University Community!
