Academic Skills Navigator FAQ’s and Cancellation Policy

Q. How often can I meet with the academic skills navigator?

The number of times a student meets with the academic skills navigator a semester is determined on their academic support needs, and what skill building would be most helpful for them as a student. Some students only require one meeting, while other students prefer to meet regularly. Students can schedule a max of one appointment every two weeks with the academic skills navigator.

Q. What if I need to cancel my appointment with the academic skills navigator?

The academic skills navigator provides voluntary academic skill support to students who are enrolled with the Services for Students with Disabilities office. If you are unable to make your scheduled appointment, it is the expectation that you cancel your appointment 24 hours prior to the start of your appointment. Canceling an appointment involves emailing the academic skills navigator at sboreali@binghamton.edu that you are no longer able to attend.

Not contacting the academic skills navigator 24 hours prior to your appointment, or failing to show up for your scheduled appointment, will result in a record of a “no show”. After two “no shows”, or showing up late by 15 minutes or more to two appointments in a semester, a student must meet with the Director of Services for Students with Disabilities before they are able to schedule another appointment for academic skills navigator services.

The academic skills navigator provides services to any student enrolled with the Services for Students with Disabilities office, and “no show” or late cancellation appointments take valuable schedule space away from fellow students who would like to utilize this service.

Q. What if I am late for my appointment?

If you are 15 or more minutes late, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment for a different date and time.
