The following on-campus resources may be useful for data science research and practice.

  • Statistical Consulting Service

    This is a free service open to campus members that provides statistical advice to faculty and graduate students on a variety of topics including assistance on analyses of data; interpretation, reporting and communication of results; and statistical computing help.

  • High-performance (Spiedie) Computing
    The High-Performance Computing Cluster, aptly name "Spiedie," is a 3464 compute core and 512 Knights Landing core cluster housed in the Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science's Data center at the Innovative Technologies Complex. This research facility offers computer capabilities for researchers across Binghamton University.

  • University Libraries Digital Scholarship Services
    The Libraries' Digital Scholarship Services creates a community of practice for research and creative activities in the digital realm on campus. Digital Scholarship Services include in-class or private consultation; Open Educational Resources (OER) creation, support and promotion; Open repository and digital preservation services; Data structuring and visualization; and copyright expertise.

  • Computational and Data Storage Services at Information Technology Services (ITS)
    ITS offers a high-availability, high-capacity server virtualization environment for use by all members of the Binghamton University academic community. It also owns and manages academic and research data storage with a capacity of about 500 TB, that is highly available, located physically in an ITS data center with full redundant power and data backups. This service is based on a charge-back model. Contact the Research Support at ITS for details.

  • Emerging Technology Studio (ETS)
    The Emerging Technology Studio (ETS) is a MakerSpace where Binghamton University faculty and students are welcome to gain or refine their skills in the areas of virtual reality, 3D printing, 3D scanning, 2D/3D design and editing, and video editing.

  • GIS and Remote Sensing Core Facility
    The GIS and Remote Sensing Core Facility fosters the educated use of geographical information systems and global positioning systems technologies for the development and execution of funded basic and applied research. It offers a number of short courses throughout the year. In addition to regularly scheduled classes, appointments can be made for one-on-one sessions to train users in specific GIS functions or to discuss data needs and research design.
