Middle East and North Africa Studies (minor)

Program Overview

Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Studies at Binghamton University was established in the 1960s, one of the first Middle East Studies programs in the United States. During its history of over fifty years, the program has held a long-standing commitment to teaching and supporting advanced research about the Middle East, North Africa, and adjacent areas. The program is inclusive in its view of the MENA region, not defined by fixed geographical borders or an association with a single religious tradition or time period. Rather, we see the MENA area as a fluid space, constituted by many identities, as well as by the continuous waves of migration both to and from it.
