Biography

Rebecca Rouland is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work in the College of Community and Public Affairs (CCPA) at Binghamton University and a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the State of New York.  She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Sociology in Criminal Justice from the State University of New York at Geneseo. She subsequently earned her Master of Social Work with a concentration in Mental and Physical Health from Roberts Wesleyan College and Doctorate of Philosophy in Social Welfare from the University at Buffalo, State University of New York.

Prior to joining the faculty at Binghamton University, Rouland taught undergraduate and graduate courses in social work, both in person and online, for over 10 years. She has over 15 years of practice experience, primarily in inpatient and crisis mental health settings.

Rouland’s research interests center on health and mental health disparities, including geographic disparities and rural practice; perinatal health and mental health, particularly perinatal mental health conditions (PMHCs) and perinatal depression (PD); sexual and reproductive health, especially access to abortion care; and interpersonal and domestic violence, including among individuals with disabilities.
