BME 628X - Biomedical Optics
This course covers essential topics in the field of biomedical optics. First, the key theory of electromagnetic (EM) field, wave equation, geometrical optics, quantum optics, biophotonics and tissue optics will be refreshed; second, principle and instrumentation of modern laser, spectroscopy and microscopy for bioimaging will be introduced. Third, a few lectures with assigned projects will be given to teach students how to analyze and interpret spectroscopic and microscopic data towards medical diagnosis and therapeutics purposes. Prerequisites: Graduate standing in BME or instructor approval. 3 credit hours. Spring semester. Levels: Graduate
