The Developmental Exposure Alcohol Research Center (DEARC) receives the majority of its funding from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, with additional support provided by Binghamton University. The DEARC recognizes the instrumental role of Dr. Linda P. Spear as the original Scientific Director and long-time Center Director for the DEARC, who lost her battle with cancer in the Fall of 2020. To acknowledge her critical role in shaping the research of the Behavioral Neuroscience Program, faculty in the Department of Psychology have established a Scholarship fund to support students engaged in rigorous scientific research focused on early developmental vulnerabilities to drugs of abuse.
