The Center for Korean Studies provides competitive fellowships for students conducting coursework and/or research related to Korean studies. Binghamton students who are currently enrolled are eligible to apply. Fellowship awards vary in size and range depending on the applicant's merit and fund availability.

CKS Graduate Research Fellowship
Binghamton University's Center for Korean Studies is now accepting applications for its Graduate Research Fellowship.
Description
This fellowship supports graduate students' advanced research projects related to Korean studies. Awards of up to $2,000 will be made.
Criteria
Applicant must be registered and enrolled full time in a doctorate program at Binghamton University. Applicant must be engaged in research focusing on Korea. Other projects that figure Korea prominently in the research agenda may be considered. Applicant must be pursuing independent research for publication, a doctoral prospectus or dissertation, or other type of academic article. The fellowship may be used for research-related travel (archives, libraries, museums, etc.); data collection, assembly or development; purchase of research materials; or other research-related expense.

Special Note
Candidates must secure approval prior to travel. All awardees must submit detailed receipts, invoices, original boarding passes and a report summarizing their activities and expenses within 4 weeks of their return (or completion of their proposed research). The funds will be paid as reimbursement of expenses.

CKS Conference Travel Grant
Binghamton University's Center for Korean Studies is now accepting applications for its Conference Travel Grants.
Description
This grant assists graduate students with conferences expenses, and enables them to present papers related to Korean studies at major academic conferences. The maximum award is $350. Applicant must be in a graduate program at Binghamton University. Awards may be used for transportation costs to and from the conference, conference registration fee and lodging.

Special Note
If awarded for past travel, a copy of the conference program and all original invoices must be submitted within 1 week of notice of award.

Binghamton University AKS Scholarship
Binghamton University's Center for Korean Studies is now accepting applications for its Academy of Korean Studies Scholarship.
Description
This award recognizes academic excellence in Korean studies. Awards of up to $1,000.
Criteria
Applicant must have at least one semester of study at Binghamton University. Applicant must be registered and enrolled full time in a degree program at Binghamton University. Applicant must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5. (Undergraduate applicants) Korean majors and minors. Other majors and minors with a concentration in Korean studies may also be considered. (Graduate applicants) Applicants must demonstrate a concentration in Korean studies and have not yet advanced to PhD candidacy by the award deadline.
