Binghamton University Announces Requirements for Attending Commencement

Updated 4/29/21 @ 4:30pm

We highly recommend making plans to obtain one of the above requirements ahead of the scheduled Grad Walk or ceremony you are attending. In the event that you are unable to do so, the University can offer an antigen test prior to the scheduled Grad Walk by advance reservation. However, keep in mind that if you test positive, you will not be permitted to enter any of the facilities for Commencement.

We are attempting to make Commencement a seamless process for all attendees (students and guests) and therefore we need your cooperation. If you do not pay attention to these directions or fail to follow the instructions, you are putting your ability to watch your student walk across the stage at risk.

GUESTS

Anyone attending a Commencement ceremony (Grad Walk) this spring, including students, MUST show one of the following:

  • a negative antigen COVID test result within 6 hours of the ceremony you will be attending.
  • a negative PCR COVID test result within 72 hours of the ceremony you will be attending. (Test and results must have been completed within 72 hours of the event.)
  • proof of full vaccination 14 days prior to event.
  • proof of having had COVID within the past 90 days.

All guests must complete the registration form to meet New York State public health requirements for Commencement. Each guest will need to complete a form.

All forms must be submitted by Friday, May 7.

If you arrive to your ceremony without any of the above forms of proof, you will be sent to the on-campus testing center for an antigen test. If time allows following receipt of negative results, you may attend your scheduled ceremony (Grad Walk).
