Preparing future scholars
All faculty members in CCPA are part of the doctoral program, providing students with the opportunity to learn from diverse and engaged scholars. Our faculty have backgrounds in applied mental health research (community, clinical, social), and our teaching faculty members span disciplines including in education, human development, public administration, social work, student affairs, nursing, psychology, and pharmacology.
All core and affiliated faculty conduct a variety of interdisciplinary research and work. Faculty members are actively involved with many different University interprofessional organizations (e.g., the Institute for Genocide and Mass Atrocities Prevention; Institute for Justice and Well-Being; Transdisciplinary Areas of Excellence; University Community Schools; Sustainable Communities). They edit and contribute to nationally- and internationally-recognized scholarly journals.
Doctoral students are encouraged to collaborate with faculty through courses, develop research studies that advance individual, organizational, and/or community health and wellness, build empowerment and seek social justice, dissertation work, and consult on projects and other endeavors. Working alongside faculty in schools and communities, as well as on college campuses, students in the program are researching issues such as local food insecurity, college-student drinking, and mental health for refugees. Graduates are trained for careers as researchers in a variety of settings including academia, research institutions, and policy institutes.
