Lijun Yin joined the Department of Computer Science at Binghamton University in September 2001. He is the director of the Graphics and Image Computing (GAIC) Laboratory. His research interests include computer vision, graphics and image processing. Dr. Yin's research is supported by the National Science Foundation; the New York State Office of Science, Technology and Academic Research (NYSTAR); the Air Force Research Lab; and SUNY Upstate Medical Center. He has over 90 publications in refereed journals and conferences.

Lijun Yin received PhD from the University of Alberta in CS and M.Sc from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in EE. Before he joined Binghamton, he did his post-doc fellowship at the University of Alberta, and worked at Chyron Corp. in Long Island, N.Y. and InfiMed Inc. in Syracuse, N.Y. as a computer graphics and image scientist. He is serving on the editorial boards of two international journals. He is the recipient of James D. Watson Investigator Program Awards from NYSTAR.

Yin was elevated in SUNY Distinguished Professor in 2024.
