Computer Science

Background

Michael J. Lewis joined Binghamton University's Department of Computer Science in September 1999. He holds a bachelor of science degree from Duke University, a master's from Penn State and a PhD from the University of Virginia, where he was one of the original designers and architects of the Legion Grid Computing System.

Lewis received an NSF CAREER Award and an Early Career Principal Investigator award from the U.S. Department of Energy. Lewis also serves as director of Binghamton's NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Site in Computer Science, received a 2007-08 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching and is an author on more than 40 refereed research publications.
