Background

Mel Robinson (he/him/his) was born and raised in Northern Indiana. He completed his undergraduate degree at Ball State University, majoring in psychology with an emphasis on interpersonal relations. He received his master's of social work degree from the University of Southern California (USC) with a concentration in children, youth, and families, completing his clinical internships in Los Angeles at a high-school with an acute population of at-promise youth and at Children's Hospital LA in the HIV Care program.

Clinically, Robinson uses a harm reduction-based approach, often utilizing problem-solving therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. Most of his clinical experience is with BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals as Robinson understands firsthand how one’s identity and the inner and outward perception of said identity heavily influence one’s mental health journey. Ultimately, he works with the client to help them understand that although life may be hard, happiness can still be attained. When he is not working, Robinson loves to bake, play and watch tennis, sing, dance, and laugh.
