Curriculum Requirements

The Master of Science in Higher Education and Student Affairs (MS HESA), a 45-minimum credit hour program, includes:

  • 15 credit hours of core student affairs required coursework
  • A 3-credit hour research methods course
  • 21 credits of electives
  • A minimum 3-credit hour internship
  • Required 3-credit capstone course SAA 524 - New Student Affairs Professionals

To graduate, HESA students must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 and receive a B or higher in all required courses. It typically takes two years for full-time students to complete our program.

Electives

Students are offered the opportunity to choose elective courses suited to their specialized academic interests from various other graduate academic departments. Many students choose to take electives through the Graduate School, the Department of Public Administration or other departments with advisor approval.
