Departure Form

This e-form is for use by international students and J-1 scholars and faculty who are leaving Binghamton University and will not be at the university for the rest of the current semester and/or the following semester.

Federal SEVIS regulations require F and J students, scholars and faculty to notify the ISSS when you are ending your studies or program. Reasons for leaving include graduation, completion of program, termination of studies, withdrawal, leave of absence or transfer.

Departure Information

Information about your planned departure is entered in this section. Students will be prompted to enter the following:

  • Degree sought
  • Field of study
  • Expected graduation date

If "Other" is selected as the reason for departure, you must enter a brief description in the Other Reason field.

If you are on OPT, your SEVIS record will be completed and your OPT authorization will no longer be valid as of your departure date.

Drop-down lists are available for some input fields - click on the arrow to the right of the input field to display the lists.

Mailing Address

A mailing address is needed in case ISSS needs to contact you after your departure. A drop-down list of countries is available by clicking on the arrow to the right of the input field.

Read the information in the verification box carefully. Check the two boxes, then click the "Submit" button.

The top of the e-form is displayed, with a message that the e-form has been submitted for review.

Please allow 3-5 days for processing.  You will receive an email when ISSS has completing processing your e-form.

Accessing the e-form

Once you have logged in to iSSS BU Client Services (click on the blue LOGIN button), the e-form is found under "General Forms" in the "iSSS BU Home Page" block.
