Music

Background

Kathleen Karlsen studied at SUNY Potsdam and received a Masters of Music in Performance from SUNY Binghamton. She has played oboe and English horn in many orchestras including the Albany Symphony, the Vermont Symphony and the Hudson Valley Philharmonic. Locally she has played with the Corning Philharmonic, Elmira Symphony, Binghamton Symphony, Tri-Cities Opera, Binghamton Community Orchestra, Basically Bach, and Downtown Singers among others and with various chamber ensembles, choral groups and area shows. She has been on the faculty of the Binghamton Community Music School, Hudson Valley Philharmonic Music School, the Arts Community of New Paltz and has taught instrumental music in the Broome County Catholic Schools along with being a studio teacher of oboe and English horn since 1970.
