Background
A proud Vestal native, Melinda Lewis is excited to inspire bassoonists to grow in their craft and expand the public visibility of bassoon performance. Teaching and playing bassoon are her passions, and Lewis is thrilled to combine the two.
Lewis is very active as a bassoon player within and around the Triple Cities area. Large ensemble performances include principal bassoon with the Binghamton Community Orchestra, chamber musician for the Binghamton Downtown Singers and Madrigal Choir of Binghamton, as well as a substitute performer with the Tri-Cities Opera. Since 2008, Lewis has been a member of the Mosaic Winds woodwind quintet and Bassoon Monsoon, a bassoon ensemble that frequently performs as a quartet.
For nine years, she taught as a public school band teacher, spanning grades 5-12 in the Vestal and Rochester, NY, school districts. She additionally maintains a private bassoon studio.
