Parking permits available for purchase online
Parking permits are available for purchase online for the upcoming academic year or semester at the Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS) portal. Only students who are sophomores and above are eligible to purchase a permit.
Students who are first-time permit buyers must first register their vehicle online with the University. Students who are returning customers will log in and follow the step-by-step instructions. Resident students are also eligible to purchase a Discounted Resident Parking Permit. This permit type allows students to park in Lot G1 only at a discounted rate of $100. See the campus map for parking lot locations and which lot designations correspond with permit types.
TAPS uses License Plate Recognition (LPR), a plate-recognition technology that virtually associates Binghamton University parking permits to a license plate without a decal or hangtag. Vehicle information can be updated from students’ online accounts at any time.
If your student is interested in carpooling, Binghamton University offers 511NY Rideshare, which is an online carpooling platform. Students may sign up, create a profile and easily find other students to travel with by posting a ride. TAPS offers incentives to those that carpool. To find out more, visit the TAPS website.
An alternative to bringing a vehicle to campus is to take advantage of the bus systems. Both OCCT and BC Transit offer safe and reliable transportation around campus and the community at no cost with the scan of a valid Binghamton University ID. For more information on scheduling, visit the TAPS website.
For updates throughout the academic year, visit the TAPS website. Questions regarding parking can be directed to parking@binghamton.edu.
