Credit Card Fraud Prevention

Various University departments accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover to process payment for tuition, room, board, and other miscellaneous fees. As the volume of credit card activity continues to increase, so does the likelihood of fraudulent card use. Credit card fraud and identity theft are constant concerns that need to be taken seriously.

University credit card processes must comply with the merchant services banking contract and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). In addition to ensuring that all transactions are properly processed in accordance with the banking contract the Revenue Accounting office can provide important information to proactively address required cardholder data security measures and to help ensure that your collections are directed to the appropriate fund source. For more information on what you can do to protect card holder data and how you can contribute to PCI DSS compliance efforts at BU, please visit review the information on this site and familiarize yourself with the Campus PCI DSS Policy.
