Eric Janec is a lecturer in the Philosophy Department at Binghamton University. Prior to this position, he was a visiting assistant professor at SUNY Oswego. He received his PhD from Binghamton University in 2024. Janec's interests lie in political philosophy, specifically in the area of political realism. His research examines historical realists such as Hobbes and Machiavelli, as well as contemporary realism. The broad aim of this work is to understand what makes a government legitimate when we give up the foundation of morality to justify political coercion and force.
