Lab Tours and School Visits

PAF offers tours of our labs and facilities. We welcome organized visits from schools and local organizations. On-site tours feature informal lectures and demonstrations by our archaeologists and lab technicians, and a chance to view the laboratory process and curation efforts first-hand.

We also have the ability to bring a presentation to your school or community event in the Southern Tier. We can prepare slideshow demonstrations, bring our teaching collection, or set up one of our traveling displays.

Presentations can be partially tailored to fit the needs or themes of school programs. Past presentations have included:

  • Careers in Archaeology
  • The Archaeology of Blacksmithing
  • The Prehistory of The Susquehanna River Valley
  • "Learn a New Thing" Day
  • The Battle of Newtown
  • The Archaeology of Ancient Rome

Availability of our staff can be limited (due to their other duties as field archaeologists) so contact us well in advance of your desired date.
