Q: How old does my baby or child have to be?
A: We recommend that you sign up as soon as possible. We will contact you when your child reaches the right age for one of our studies. The exact age depends on the study that is currently underway. Normally, we work with ages between 3 and 9 years.

Q: Will I be compensated for my travel expenses?
A: We offer $20 to parents for each visit to BU.

Q: What happens during a typical study?
A: Your child will be looking at objects on a computer or television screen while we observe their behavior. A typical study session takes about 20-60 minutes.

Q: I work during the day. Are there appointments available on nights or weekends?
A: Yes. We are happy to schedule evening and weekend appointments for the busiest parents.

Q: Can I watch while my child is being observed?
A: Yes. Your child does best when you are around. In fact, we need you to be nearby in all of our studies!

Q: Where do the studies take place?
A: Our studies take place at our easy-to-find location on Binghamton University's campus. We will you send you driving directions once we have you scheduled for an appointment. A lab member will meet you at your car.

Q: Is there parking on campus?
A: Yes. We have a reserved parking spot for your visit. Please see our directions page for details.

Q: I would like to come to campus for one of the studies. Can I bring my other children along?
A: Yes, just be sure to mention this when scheduling your appointment. We will make sure that one of our lab members is available to watch your other children.

Q: How will my child or I benefit from the studies?
A: Many parents find our studies to be interesting and informative. Children often find our studies to be fun as well. Most importantly, you will be helping the scientific community understand the minds of infants and young children.
