Winter Break
The residence halls will close for Winter Break at 10:00 a.m. December 13, 2025 and reopen at 9:00 a.m. January 18, 2026.
24-HOUR QUIET HOURS begin 11:59 p.m. Friday, December 5 and will continue through 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 12. Quiet hours allow students time to study and prepare for finals. This policy will be enforced in the residence halls during this time.

January Move-In
The residence halls will close for Winter Break at 10:00 a.m. December 13, 2025.
New 1st-Year and Transfer students will move in on Saturday, January 17th between 12pm to 4pm. Please keep an eye on your Binghamton email to select a move-in time slot and for further instructions.
New International students will move in on Monday, January 12th or Tuesday, January 13th. Please keep an eye on your Binghamton email to select a move-in time slot and for further instructions. Visit the International Student and Scholar Services website for additional information.
Returning students will move in on Sunday, January 18th starting at 9am.
Spring semester classes begin on Tuesday, January 20th.

Spring Housing Process
Room selection for the Spring 2026 Housing Process has concluded. Students who are still looking to move on to campus for the Spring 2026 semester should contact Residential Life at reslife@binghamton.edu or 607-777-2321 and we will assist you with your housing.
Petition to be released from the University Housing Agreement
This process is for residents who are signed up for on-campus housing and are petitioning to be released from the University Housing Agreement.
Generally speaking, petitions to be released from the University Housing Agreement are denied unless they fit into one of three categories below:
- Not going to be enrolled as a Binghamton University student for the fall semester.
- Significant and unanticipated change in financial circumstances that occurred following room selection.
- Newly diagnosed or exacerbated medical conditions that cannot be addressed through housing accommodations.

2026-27 Returning Student Housing
This process is for current residents interested in returning to on-campus housing for the 2026–27 academic year. Complete details will be posted in January.
Important Dates:
January 27: Applications opens
March 6: Application deadline - Students must submit their 2026-27 housing application by March 6, 2026, to be eligible to participate in room selection.
March 9 - 18: Room Selection
