B safe!

Take the pledge to #SeeAndBeSeen
Transportation and Parking Services is a proud supporter of New York State’s See and Be Seen Campaign, a campaign devoted to promoting safe driving habits and pedestrian safety.

Don’t text and drive, obey the speed limit and expect pedestrians in walkways. Use crosswalks, look both ways before crossing, obey traffic signals and don’t text while crossing. Be safe when operating personal vehicles such as scooters, longboards, bikes, etc.

Pedestrians
To stay safe and courteous while navigating shared spaces, always use crosswalks and look both ways before crossing the road. Walk on the right side of the walkways and avoid standing still in the middle—if you need to stop, move to the side. Stay alert by listening for bells, callouts, or other warning sounds from incoming riders, and be mindful of personal vehicles like scooters, longboards, and bikes. Avoid distractions—don’t text while crossing—and make sure you stay visible after dark or in poor weather conditions to help others see you clearly. Staying aware and following these simple guidelines can help everyone move around safely and smoothly.

Riders
When riding, especially at night, wear bright colors and use lights to ensure you're visible to others. Always wear a helmet for safety, obey all road rules, and follow posted speed limits. Slow down in crowded areas and yield to pedestrians at crosswalks. To stay aware of your surroundings, avoid listening to music so you can hear traffic and other important sounds. Remember to share the road respectfully and ride solo to maintain balance and control. Safe riding habits help protect you and everyone around you.

Safe Ride

Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS) offers a Safe Ride program. Safe Ride is not an on-campus taxi service, but a program that provides a safe escort for individuals who feel uncomfortable walking alone after dark. Students are able to request a point to point safe escort on main campus by calling 607-777-SAFE (7233). Safe Ride operates from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. seven days a week. The Safe Ride vehicle is equipped with a wheelchair lift.

For those navigating campus, TAPS encourages students, faculty and staff to utilize the OCCT campus shuttle. The shuttle loops main campus, stopping at multiple locations. The route is performed by a green shuttle Monday through Friday and a blue bus Saturdays and Sundays.

Shuttle hours of operation are available on the OCCT website. The campus shuttle can also be tracked by downloading the ETA SPOT app for real-time bus tracking information.
