Empowered Launch: An educator summit for disability access in higher education

Binghamton University Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) will host its inaugural summit for area high school administrators, counselors, college liaisons and support staff that assist students with a disability in navigating the transition to college. The event will be held from 8–4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16 at the Information Technology Center (ITC). 

The summit will feature speakers from Binghamton University Services for Students with Disabilities, as well as other experts in the field. Attendees will participate in full-group sessions as well as small-group breakout sessions discussing topics including:

  • How to prepare students for accommodations in higher education
  • Access VR and PII
  • How to find the right college fit
  • Legal implications
  • Importance of updated documentation
  • Housing accommodations
  • Community college nuanced considerations
  • How to request accommodations in college
  • Best practices for preparing students with disabilities for success in college

A light breakfast and lunch are included with registration

On-site parking is available at the ITC.
