Meet alumni social media influencers at Homecoming

By Steve Seepersaud

The ability to communicate with large audiences and drive consumer behaviors is no longer exclusive to movie stars, professional athletes and politicians. Social media have given rise to a new generation of influencers. Though they don't have star power in the traditional sense, they've leveraged platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to reach people to push products or advance causes they're passionate about.

At our upcoming TIER Talks session, meet Binghamton alumni who have built social media followings to grow brands or effect social change. The Oct. 9 session, "Reaching the Masses: Meet Alumni Social Media Influencers," will be one of the signature events of Homecoming 2021 on campus.

Speakers will be:

  • Armand Khatri '09, partner manager, Pinterest
  • Sydney Sherman '17, MBA '18, senior community development manager, Serhant
  • Chris Strub '07, social media consultant and CEO of I Am Here, LLC

Homecoming weekend, scheduled for Oct. 8-10, will have so much more, including:

  • Binghamton Block Party
  • Golden Reunion for the Classes of 1951-71
  • Legacy Luncheon
  • Bearcats of the Last Decade (BOLD) 10 Under 10 Awards
  • Fall Festival
  • Men's soccer vs. New Hampshire
  • Class of 2020 Commencement make-up

See the full schedule on the Homecoming website, as well as a list of local hotels offering special rates to alumni attending Homecoming.

To date, more than 1,000 alumni have registered for our events. After a trying 18 months, they're ready to come together and celebrate, so come back to Binghamton and join the fun. Register online by Oct. 3.
