Yes, we recommend you start the process of updating now. Panopto for Windows, Panopto
for Mac, and Remote Recorder downloads are already configured to version 5.6 on your
hosted site.
By starting now, you’ll be able to complete the process before older versions of the apps are blocked from connecting on July 20, 2018.

We wanted to let you know about a bug in Panopto that affects server versions 5.4 through 5.6 (inclusive) and Panopto for Mac 5.0 and above.
What is the bug and its impact?
Recordings created using Panopto for Mac can cause playback issues in the recently released version of Google Chrome (version 64). In this release of Chrome, playback halts when the browser encounters minor inconsistencies in the audio stream. We expect this issue to affect a small fraction of Panopto sessions that have been created using Panopto for Mac.
How do I resolve this issue?
For any sessions affected by the bug, follow the steps outlined in this article to fix playback issues in Chrome 64. Note that sessions will be unavailable during the encoding process. Alternatively, you can use another web browser to view this content.
When will this bug be fixed in the product?
We're in discussions with Google to resolve the issue quickly. In addition, we're working on an update for our next product release that will help prevent similar issues from occurring in the future.
For any questions, please contact Binghamton Panopto Support.
