BINGHAMTON, NY – Binghamton University’s Office of Continuing Education and Outreach will host two medical field certificate-training programs. An EKG Technician Certification program will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 16. A Pharmacy Technician Certification Program will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning Monday, Oct. 15. Both programs will take place from 6 - 9 p.m. at the University Downtown Center, 67 Washington Street in Binghamton.

The EKG Technician Certification Program will prepare students for work as an EKG technician, as they develop an understanding of medical terminology, medical ethics, electrocardiography and stress testing. Upon completion, students will be eligible to take The ASPT—Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician Exam, as well as other national certification exams.

The Pharmacy Technician Certification Program will prepare students for entry into the pharmacy field as they develop an understanding of medical terminology, specific to pharmacy, how to read and interpret prescriptions and define drugs by generic and brand names, learn about drug compounding, dispensing of prescriptions, and more. Upon completion, students will be eligible to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam.

The fee for both courses is $999 and includes all course materials, books and lab materials.
