BINGHAMTON, NY – Homecoming 2013, sponsored by the Binghamton University Alumni Association, will take place Friday to Sunday, Oct. 11-13 on campus. Alumni and members of the local community are welcome to participate in a wide range of spirit-filled activities.

The Binghamton University Basketball Showcase will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11. The first 1,500 fans to arrive at the Events Center, will receive a free t-shirt. The showcase will include the men’s and women’s basketball teams and spirit squads. This event is co-sponsored by your locally owned Subway restaurant.

Saturday afternoon’s events include a presentation by President Harvey Stenger on the University’s strategic plan at 1:30 p.m. in Lecture Hall 14, and a 2:00 p.m. reception at which the public can meet Anne McCall, the new dean of Harpur College of Arts and Sciences at 2 p.m. in room 2430 in the Library North. Harpur’s Ferry ambulance service, the Class of 1973, and the swimming/diving team will hold reunion celebrations at Homecoming 2013.

The signature event of the weekend, the tailgate party, will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday outside the Events Center. The public is invited to bring grills, food, and beverages and join a spectacle that attracts more than 1,000 people each year. Tailgate ’13 precedes the 6 p.m. men’s home soccer game against the University of Massachusetts - Lowell.  The women’s volleyball team will host Stony Brook University at 5 p.m. Friday, and the University of Maryland - Baltimore County at 4 p.m. Saturday, at the West Gym.
