BINGHAMTON, NY – The Binghamton University Alumni Association will present its 2014 Special Recognition Awards at a reception and dinner from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the DoubleTree by Hilton, 225 Water St., Binghamton. All alumni and friends of the University are welcome to attend.

Sunny Hostin, a member of Binghamton University’s Class of 1990 and legal analyst for CNN, will be the featured speaker. She is known for her in-depth analysis of headline-grabbing trials and legal issues.

Geraldine Knoll MacDonald ’68, MS ’73, will receive the Glenn G. Bartle Distinguished Alumnus/a Award for her work in Internet technology. Former senior vice president for America Online, overseeing construction and expansion of the company’s vast digital networks, she is an independent consultant specializing in executive management, Internet start-ups and wireless applications.

Keith A. LaScalea ’94, will receive the Edward Weisband Distinguished Alumnus/a Award for Public Service or Contribution to Public Affairs for his achievements in the field of medicine, both as an associate professor of clinical medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College and in outreach efforts in New York and Africa.

Justin Joseph ’05, MBA ’06, will receive the Lois B. DeFleur Distinguished Young Alumnus Award for the leadership he has displayed in his entrepreneurial career and his commitment to Binghamton University through active engagement as a volunteer.

In addition, the Medals of Distinguished Service will be presented to the following alumni, recognizing their volunteerism at the University and excellence in their respective professional endeavors: Yang Chen ’87, Robert D. Eicher ’81, Fred Farley, PhD ’03, Ruthanne Koffman ’82, MA ’84, Gary Kunis ’73, LHD ’02, David L. Kushner ’70, Karima Legette ’01, MA ’05, William A. Orband Jr. ’74, Brian L. Segel ’85 and Michael J. Warshawsky ’81.
