BINGHAMTON, NY - The SUNY Business and Education Cooperative of the Southern Tier (SUNY BEST) will host "Broome County IDA: What the Future Holds" at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 5, in room 220 at the Binghamton University Downtown Center, 67 Washington St., Binghamton. This presentation is free and open to the public.

Kevin McLaughlin, executive director of the Broome County Industrial Development Agency (BCIDA), will speak about the agency’s history, financing programs and future ventures.

BCIDA is a public benefit corporation chartered by the State of New York. For more than 40 years, it has actively fostered economic growth in Greater Binghamton and Broome County. In addition, the BCIDA has facilitated more than 120 projects with a capital investment of more than $425 million. Its strategic objectives for the years 2014-2016 include achieving long-term agency, programmatic and financial sustainability, expanding the scope of programs and services offered and taking steps to make BCIDA an outcome-based organization.

McLaughlin previously served as the regional director of Empire State Development Southern Tier and president of the Empire State New Market Corporation. He also served as director of the National Development Council, where he worked with state agencies, municipalities and industrial development agencies to identify development opportunities, structure incentive packages, create loan programs and establish Community Development Block Grant initiatives.
