BINGHAMTON, NY - Binghamton University will present a multimedia Engagement Expo aimed at highlighting the many facets of its community engagement endeavors from 12:45-1:45 p.m. Thursday, March 19, in the University Union’s Mandela Room, on campus. The event is free and open to the public.

The Expo will showcase innovative and dynamic courses, projects, research and service initiatives from programs and disciplines across campus. Projects and initiatives on display will range from local park improvement projects, engagement with community K-12 schools, study abroad service-learning programs, public art initiatives, community-based research and student capstones focused on public issues.

"Binghamton University faculty and students engage in truly innovative projects and initiatives which positively impact the local community every year," said Allison Alden, director of the Center for Civic Engagement at Binghamton University. "The Engagement Expo is a way to share these projects with other students, faculty and the community in an exciting, dynamic environment."

The Expo is being held in conjunction with the Institute on Community-Engaged Teaching, Research & Scholarship (http://bit.ly/cce-institute), held on March 18-19. This Institute will celebrate students and personnel who are already working to forge partnerships within their communities, and support other faculty and staff as they strive to do the same. Co-sponsors for the Institute include the Center for Civic Engagement and fourteen other on- and off-campus partners.
