BINGHAMTON, NY – The College of Community and Public Affairs (CCPA) and the Malawi Children’s Mission (MCM) will be the topic of the Binghamton University Forum luncheon program on Wednesday, Sept. 30. A luncheon buffet will begin at noon, and the formal program will start at 12:30 p.m., at Traditions at the Glen, 4104 Watson Blvd., Johnson City.

Speakers include CCPA Dean Laura Bronstein, Assistant Professor of Social Work Lisa Blitz, as well as Binghamton native Steven Koffman, founder and board member of MCM. Their presentation will focus on their experience working with MCM in Malawi, Africa.

Bronstein is also a professor of social work and the executive director of the Institute for Multigenerational Studies at Binghamton University. She has gained an international reputation for her research and model development around interdisciplinary collaboration.

Blitz is a researcher, educator and social worker. She currently engages in community-based participatory research with urban and rural schools, and is the lead faculty member for the MCM asset-based Community Development project. She is co-director of the Institute for Multigenerational Studies.

Koffman grew up in Binghamton and graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in economics. He interned at UNICEF, where his main focus was United Nations reform and HIV/AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa. In 2007, he cofounded the MCM.
