Funding Opportunities

  • Marilyn Gaddis Rose Excellence Award in Translation

This award seeks to stimulate the scholarly practice of translation of literary and academic texts by graduate students working in TRIP, as well as other programs and departments that have opened space to translation as an academically-based practice at Binghamton University. The award will be made annually to honor the memory of Distinguished Service Professor Marilyn Gaddis Rose (1930-2015), an internationally recognized pioneer in the study of translation and the founder of TRIP. • Marilyn Gaddis Rose Fund

Marilyn Gaddis Rose established this Fund with gifts contributed since December 5, 1996 to provide general teaching support for annual graduate stipend support, called the Marilyn Gaddis Rose Assistantship in Translation Studies. The fund does not currently provide enough support to fund a full annual graduate assistantship, and the University is no longer able to supplement the Fund. For these reasons, this Endowment represents a high fundraising priority. (Account #20603)

Historically, the Fund provided Teaching Assistantships to TRIP graduate students. One hope we have going forward is to use the fund to provide one Dissertation Year Fellowship (DYF) stipend annually to one or two TRIP doctoral students, as the Program does not have a separate allocation to offer a DYF to our students.

    • Our goal is to raise $100,000 by 2028
