Schedule and course descriptions
View the Schedule of Classes to search for schedules. When viewing the Schedule of Classes, be sure to look for the following indicators on some course selections:
- DI: distance/online section
- M1: course is in session during the first 7 weeks of the semester
- M2: course is in session during the last 7 weeks of the semester
M1/M2 classes for incoming RN students include:
- NURS 380: Professional Role Development, Transitions
- NURS 382: Population-Focused Health Promotion
- NURS 384: Population-Focused Disease Management
- NURS 386: Health Assessment
Full semester courses include:

- NURS 365: Pharmacology in Nursing (DI option)
NOTE: RN-to-BS students must be available on Thursdays for classes, exams and coursework.

Course numbers, titles and descriptions
NURS 360: Socialization II, Nursing Research
Statistics, NURS 380 and NURS 386 may be completed before or concurrently with NURS
360. Basics of research terminology are taught as the critique process is explained.
A hybrid course with some live classes per syllabus and some online assignments. With
faculty approval, a student may complete a challenge exam instead of completing this
course.
NURS 365: Pharmacology in Nursing
NURS 351 and NURS 361 must be completed before NURS 365 (accelerated RNs are exempt).
Student may choose to take NURS 365 online or live, with weekly 2-hour lecture and
monthly exams. With faculty approval, a student may complete a challenge exam instead
of completing this course.
Offered only fall semesters:
NURS 351: Pathophysiology and Psychopathology I
General Chemistry I may be completed before or concurrently with N351. The course
is offered during fall semesters only as an online or live class. It involves weekly
2-hour lecture and monthly multiple choice exams. With faculty approval, a student
may complete a challenge exam instead of completing this course.
NURS 380: Professional Role Development, Transitions
No prerequisites or corequisites are required, as NURS 380 is an asynchronous, online
7-week course (runs August through October). The course includes: weekly modules incorporating
a discussion board and chapters to read in a textbook, a group process paper and an
online simulation exercise.
NURS 382: Population-Focused Health Promotion
Developmental Psychology is a prerequisite for NURS 382. A teaching/learning project
is typically completed with a partner. Students need a GN permit to register, but
do not need a RN license to perform a community-based clinical of 45 hours in addition
to the weekly (Thursday 8:30-11:30 a.m.) class. NURS 382 is a 7-week course that runs
August through October.
NOTE: NURS 380 and NURS 382 are mini-session 1 (M1) courses (run concurrently)
NURS 384: Population-Focused Disease Management
Students must complete NURS 380 and NURS 382 in the first half of the fall semester
as prerequisites for this course. NURS 384 may be taken in the first or second year
if choosing a two-year program plan. Students must have a RN license to perform 45
hours of community based-clinical with a focus on community assessment and chronic
illness. A copy of an RN license must be provided before registering for NURS 384.
This 7-week course (runs October through December) meets each week on Thursdays, from
8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
NURS 386 Health Assessment
No prerequisites or corequisites are required. This 7-week course (runs October through
December) meets weekly from 1 to 4 p.m. on Thursdays. There is also a weekly live
lab component, which will be scheduled around this course and held in the Innovative
Practice and Simulation Center.
NOTE: NURS 384 and NURS 386 are mini-session 2 (M2) courses (run concurrently)
Offered only spring semesters:
NURS 361: Pathophysiology and Psychopathology II
General Chemistry II may be completed before or concurrently with NURS 361. NURS 351
is a prerequisite for NURS 361. This course is offered only during spring semesters
as an online or live class. The course includes a 2-hour lecture twice a week and
monthly multiple choice exams; exams may be taken on Thursdays around other courses.
With faculty approval, a student may complete a challenge exam instead of completing
this course.
NURS 388: Healthcare Policy and Health Disparities
This online course is open to any nurse. There are no prerequisites or corequisites.
The course includes discussion boards similar to those in NURS 380.
NURS 484: Socialization into the Leadership Role
Prerequisites for this capstone course are: NURS 351, 360, 361, 365, 380, 382, 384,
386 and 388 (NURS 388 may be taken concurrently). The course includes 90 clinical
hours in leadership and meets an Oral Communication (O) Gen Ed requirement. NURS 484
meets from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursdays. Weekly clinical hours are scheduled around
the student's preference, with a preceptor in a clinical setting of their choice.
Individual, duo and group presentations are required in addition to a research critique.
