Equipment requirements

Device requirements

The Decker School of Nursing requires students to own a laptop or iPad while enrolled in the nursing program. Students will be required to write papers, create presentations, record video and take exams on their devices. Students are expected to bring the device as requested, fully charged (power may not be available), and adhere to individual course-use policies.

Minimum power and memory requirements

The following requirements will ensure sufficient processing power and memory to run current versions of Microsoft Office, and possibly more demanding applications such as an exam-testing platform.

LAPTOPS

PC minimum requirements

  • Microsoft Windows 10 or higher
  • Only genuine, U.S.-English, French, Portuguese, Swedish and British versions of Windows Operating Systems are supported
  • Windows RT and 10 S are not supported

Apple minimum requirements

  • OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) or OS X 10.12 (Sierra) or higher
  • Only genuine versions of Mac Operating Systems are supported

8 GB memory

i5 or greater processor

256 GB or greater hard drive

USB port (newer devices may require an adapter)

3-year manufacturer warranty recommended, but not required

iPADS

Suitable devices

  • iPad Air+
  • iPad Mini 3+
  • iPad Pro

Mobile operating systems supported

  • iOS 10
  • iOS 11
  • Only genuine versions of Apple iOS are supported

500 MB of free space required

iPad must not be jailbroken

Software
