Emergency Operations Center (EOC)

Activation

A request to activate the EOC may be made by any member of the Incident Management Team (IMT) staff. The requesting person must notify the University Police or designee to request the IMT convene. University Police may be contacted 24/7/365 at 607-777-2393.

Location

The primary EOC is the location where members of the IMT for the campus will meet, unless they are requested to respond to other locations.

Telephones

The primary EOC is equipped with phone and network connections mounted on the side walls of the room. The EOC is equipped with 24 phone lines. These phone numbers are confidential and are kept on file by the director of emergency management.

Administrative Support

If necessary, secretarial staff will be assigned to support the EOC operations. This support staff may provide services that include, but are not limited to, taking minutes, preparing reports, making copies, distributing faxes, etc.

EOC Security

The EOC must maintain physical security during all operations. If necessary, the EOC manager may assign staff to control access in and around the EOC.

Emergency Services 9-1-1 Center (Dispatch)

Location

The University maintains a 24/7/365 emergency communications center. This center is staffed by full-time professional emergency service dispatchers and serves as the University's 911 call center. The Emergency Communications Center is located on the ground floor of the Couper Administration Building, within New York State University Police.

Emergency Information Lines

The University has reserved toll free (1-888) phone numbers that are available for use during an emergency situation. These numbers typically remain confidential and are not used. If there is need to activate the numbers, Telecommunications must be contacted and requested to implement its internal emergency plan. The University Call Center will be fully staffed and the toll-free numbers will be forwarded to the Call Center. Callers to the 607-777-2000 switchboard line will hear a pre-recorded message stating there is an emergency condition on campus and will be directed to call one of the toll-free numbers. The toll-free numbers are confidential until needed.
