The information below is for our newly admitted, transfer students, who will be enrolled for Fall 2026.
Welcome Transfer Students! Now that you’ve committed to Binghamton, it's time to join us for Summer Orientation! Orientation is the best way for you to get acquainted with Binghamton University before you arrive in the fall. It’s an important milestone in your Binghamton journey—you may have attended Orientation at your previous institution, but this is the next step in becoming a Bearcat. Attending Binghamton’s Orientation is something every new student needs to experience, as it marks your transition into college life here and sets the foundation for your success.
Your Orientation Experience is more than just your in-person Orientation; it encompasses many aspects that all need to be completed.
What is the Orientation 2026 Experience?
Starting in early May, you will begin to gain access to the following:
- New Student Checklist: A convenient list of important to-do’s meant to guide you through your summer, located on bubrain.binghamton.edu. Make sure to complete all the items on the checklist!
- BUZZ Emails: Weekly emails loaded with resources and opportunities to take advantage of here at Binghamton. These are sent by Admissions, so keep an eye out in your email!
- Orientation Session: A one-day, in-person session where you will learn about campus, meet other new students, and receive information about academic advising and course registration! You will have the opportunity to meet an Orientation Advisor who is a current student as well as some of your future classmates. See dates below.
- Academic Advising Checklist: The Academic Advising Checklist, available to you once you register for your Orientation session, hosts a series of digital documents and forms designed to aid in the course registration process. These steps must be completed before your Orientation session so that your academic advising office can review your preferences and make suggestions before you register for classes.
- Virtual Academic Advising Appointment: At your Orientation session, you will hear from the academic advising offices to discuss important dates and need-to-knows related to course registration. You may be contacted before your Orientation session to set up an online, virtual appointment with your Academic Advising office so be sure to keep checking your Binghamton email address. Transfers register for courses after they attend their Orientation session in June so be sure to complete all the necessary steps prior to Orientation
- New Student Move-In and Welcome Program: Our new students will move into the residence halls and participate in welcome programming. More information will be sent out about move-in throughout the summer.
Sign up for an Orientation Session
All newly admitted students who have paid their admission deposit will have access to the New Student Checklist beginning in early May. Students will receive an email sent to their Binghamton University email when our registration system is available. The first item to complete is to register for an Orientation session. These dates are offered in month of June and are specific to the school to which you were admitted. Through our system you can sign up for a session and register any family members you wish to join us for the family program.
If you do not see the New Student Checklist when you log into BU Brain by May 31, contact our office so we may assist you either over the phone (607-777-2878) or through email (orientation@binghamton.edu). If you have any trouble registering for Orientation, contact our office at the phone number above for assistance.
