PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Scholars Program

The PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Scholars Program is for students of exceptional merit who have demonstrated strong academic achievements and extracurricular accomplishments.

The program focuses on developing future leaders through four pillars:

Freshmen who are selected into the program are notified following their acceptance to Binghamton University's School of Management. Typically, notifications are mailed between January and April. Students can also join as new sophomores by applying to become a member of the program during the second semester of their freshman year.

PwC is a global leader in serving public and private clients in assurance, tax, human resources, transactions, performance improvement and crisis management. With their support, the PwC Scholars Program offers students direct access to one of the most renowned professional services firms in the world.






PwC Scholars Program Highlights

  • International trip

    Ten-day international trip, in which students travel to various cities and explore the country's culture and foreign business practices. Past trip locations have included South Africa, China, France, Italy and the United Kingdom.

  • Speaker series

    Speaker series featuring thought leaders in multiple industries, including PwC Senior Partner Tim Ryan, Publicis Media CEO Dave Penski and Visions Federal Credit Union CEO Tyrone Muse.

  • Fundraising events

    Scholar-managed fundraising events that contribute toward a fundraising goal to support the annual large-scale service project. Past projects include revitalizing a kitchen for the Salvation Army, improving a local baseball field, building a mobile library for an elementary school, and installing a toddler playground for disadvantaged youth.

  • Special honors seminars

    Special honors seminars each semester, focused on developing skills that students need to succeed in the business world.

  • Sophomore visit to PwC

    Sophomore visit to the PwC office in New York City, where students learn about the firm, network with partners and staff and attend a featured evening event, which in the past has included sporting events and Broadway shows.

  • Sophomore case competition

    Sophomore case competition, which allows students to develop strategic analysis and presentation skills. It culminates in a final round presentation at the PwC offices in New York City.

  • One-on-one advising and mentoring

    One-on-one advising and mentoring by the program director as well as professionally-experienced upperclassmen.

  • Social events

    Several social events to promote networking throughout the program; past events include an annual ski trip, baseball games, apple picking, trampoline park, laser tag and haunted hayrides.

Program Requirements

Scholars have several requirements to complete as members of the program, and are continuously challenged to reach their full potential within the School of Management:

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher.
  • Enroll in the honors seminars each semester (no credit).
  • Enroll in MGMT 251 - PwC Case Competition (one credit during Spring semester of sophomore year).
  • Enroll in MGMT 350 - Scholars Community Project (two credits usually during junior year).
  • Attend mandatory events related to professional development, networking and engagement, community service, etc.
  • Complete two concentrations within the SOM, a minor outside of the SOM, or be a double major (SOM and another school).
  • Complete one additional writing course (Gen Ed C or J).
