Adult Dance Classes
in ballet, jazz, modern and tap!
The Theatre Department will offer dance classes open to adults beginning Monday, Sept. 9. Four different classes will be offered, Ballet, Jazz and Modern runs for 10 weeks, ending the week of Monday, Nov. 11. Tap runs for 9 weeks, ending on Monday, Nov. 4.
The Ballet, Jazz and Modern program fee is $100 for 10 weeks of each class you enroll in. The Tap program fee is $90 for 9 weeks. Classes are in the Fine Arts Building on the Binghamton University campus. Class participants without a campus parking permit are encouraged to park in the parking ramp just outside Fine Arts for $1/hour.
All participants above the age of 18 are welcome to join. Prior experience is not required. All that matters is that you want to move!
Choose from the following classes; register for one, two or all three styles:
Ballet from 6-7 p.m. Mondays with Rhonda Cates in FA 104
Ballet technique involves and challenges the entire body. Its intricacies and harmonies stimulate the mind as well as the body.
Tap I from 5:45-6:45 p.m. Mondays with David Wynen in 93A
Tap class will include rhythmic steps and dancing. Dance styles will include rhythm tap and classic Hollywood styles.
Tap II from 7-8 p.m. Mondays with David Wynen in 93A
This class is perfect for those who took tap last semester or who have taken classes recently, would like to learn more choreography and are ready for the next level of tap dancing.
Modern from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays with Andy Horowitz in FA 104
Discover the joy of movement by working on breath, balance, alignment, improvisation, weight-sharing and physical expression. This is a great class for all abilities and ages.
Jazz from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesdays with Stephanie Mirabito in FA 104
Jazz class will include a warm up based on the work of Luigi and classic Broadway jazz. Enjoy a rewarding workout and classic jazz moves.
