COVID-19 Policy

COVID-19 Policy for University Tutorial Services

As an on-campus service, University Tutorial Services strictly adheres to the the COVID-19 guidelines sent out by Binghamton University. A summary of our COVID-19 guidelines, as well as the complete policy, can be found below:

 Summary

All students are required to wear face coverings properly and maintain a six-foot distance from others while on-campus. This policy will be strictly enforced with UTS at the CIW Library and all tutoring spaces. Failure to comply will result in the following:
  • You will be asked the leave the tutoring session and return with an approved face covering
  • Refusal to leave the session will result in immediate cancellation of the tutoring session
  • You will no longer be eligible for future tutoring from UTS
  • UTS reserves the right to inform the Office of Student Conduct, which may result in university sanctions including suspension from the university

If you are unable to wear a face-covering due to a disability, please contact Services for Students with Disabilities at ssd@binghamton.edu to explore other potential accommodations.

Full Policy

Binghamton University has adopted requirements to protect the health of students, faculty, staff, and the community at large. Safeguarding public health depends on each of us strictly following these requirements. As a condition of enrollment, each student has acknowledged a statement of Rights and Responsibilities for the semester; included in this document is an acknowledgment that all campus requirements for spacing and wearing face coverings must be followed at all times. Binghamton University recommends and supports swift action and clear consequences if a student’s non-compliance risks the safety of others. Health and safety standards will be enforced in all interactions with University Tutorial Services.

For all in-person interactions, current rules require everyone to wear a face-covering correctly so that it completely covers both the nose and mouth tightly at all times and to maintain a 6-foot spacing when seated. A face shield is not an acceptable substitute.  If you forget your face covering or it does not meet these requirements, you will be asked to leave the tutoring session and/or CIW Library immediately. You may not return until you meet the requirement.

If a student does not comply with these requirements and refuses to wear their face covering properly, leave when directed, or to follow instructions for reseating, staff will end the session and submit a report to their supervisor. Students may then become ineligible for future tutoring services. Additionally, UTS staff will inform the Office of Student Conduct which may result in course-level penalties and/or sanctions from the university.

Due to the health and safety of the campus community, all students, including students with disabilities must adhere to the University face covering policy where it is required.  If you are unable to wear a face covering due to a disability, please contact Services for Students with Disabilities to explore other potential reasonable accommodations.

If you become ill or are asked to go into quarantine/isolation, you are not allowed to interact with UTS in-person. You should follow instructions from health providers and/or health authorities.
