
Amber Letko
Director of the Office of Emergency Management, SUNY System Administration
Amber serves as Director of the Office of Emergency Management for the State University
of New York (SUNY) System, where she leads emergency preparedness and response initiatives
across one of the nation's larger public university networks. Her office is responsible
for supporting safety and resilience across the SUNY community by overseeing emergency
planning, managing protocols and serving as the liaison to the NYS Department of Homeland
Security and Emergency Services.
Her appointment follows more than two decades of emergency services expertise spanning
county and state operations.
Prior to joining SUNY, Amber supervised the Bureau of Emergency Management for New York State's Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), where she oversaw emergency preparedness and response for an organization serving 100,000 individuals with a workforce of 25,000 employees across over a thousand facilities. As a former Disaster Preparedness Planner at the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, she specialized in training and exercise development.
A credentialed section chief New York State's All-Hazard Incident Management Team, Amber deploys nationwide as part of this elite response unit, providing critical support during emergencies and disasters. She holds degrees from multiple SUNY schools.
