FINAL REMINDERS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORIENTATION

It’s almost time for Binghamton University’s International Student Orientation on Tuesday, August 12 – Wednesday, August 13. If you haven't already, be sure to register for Orientation

New international students are required to check in with the ISSS Office using the arrival form after arriving in the United States.

We encourage you to join the Friendship Family Program to form social relationships with local community members. Space is limited, so sign-up as soon as possible.

Orientation Schedule of Events
Fall 2025 International Student Orientation will include a combination of pre-recorded videos and programs that you can attend in person.  View the complete schedule of International Student Orientation online.

The pre-recorded videos can be accessed on Brightspace and will cover a variety of important topics for new students including health insurance, immigration regulations and more.  To access, scroll down the page to the “My Courses” section and click on the “Binghamton University International Orientation” link.

The interactive in-person components will allow new international students to engage with one another, make connections, and get to know more about the Binghamton University community in an informal social environment.

All new international students are required to participate in International Student Orientation, even if you have previously attended another university in the United States.

English Language Skills Assessment
All new international undergraduate students are required to have their English language skills assessed, regardless of where they have studied previously.

The written portion of the English Language Skills Assessment is scheduled for Tuesday, August 12 from 9AM – 11AM in Lecture Hall, Room 002 (LH 002). The speaking exam will be between 1PM -3PM in Old Champlain 101 (OH101). You will receive a time ticket after completing the written exam, which will tell you when to arrive at OH101.

You must arrive in Binghamton on Monday, August 11 in order to take the English Language Skills Assessment.  If you are unable to take the exam on August 12, contact eli@binghamton.edu for make-up instructions. Note: Students who take the make-up exam may face delays in registering for classes.

All pre-arrival emails will be posted on our webpage for future reference. Emails will only be posted once they have been distributed to incoming students.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the ISSS office at intlori@binghamton.edu
