Spring Student Housing

This process is for spring 2020 admits, students returning from Education Abroad and students on leave who have been cleared to return (i.e. withdrawal or suspension) to campus for the spring 2020 semester.

The online housing process consists of TWO separate parts:

  1. Registration
  2. Room selection

Part 1 – Registration

Starts at 1 p.m. October 29 for all students.

During registration students sign the University Housing License, provide emergency contact information and consider our specialty housing options.

Part 2 - Room selection for new students

Room Selection begins December 18 – Time slots required

  • Room selection for new first year student is based on time slots
  • Time slots will be sent to new students who have completed part 1 of the process.
  • Time slots will be sent via Binghamton University email on December 13
  • Timeslots are generated randomly and cannot be changed
  • Students who miss their time slot can select a room any time after their assigned time slot

Room Selection closes January 10, 2020

First-year students who do not select a room will be assigned housing on January 13, 2020

  • Assignments will be emailed to student’s Binghamton University email address
  • Once issued assignments cannot be changed

Room selection for transfer students and students returning from study abroad or leave

Room selection begins December 20 – No time slot required

  • Beginning at 10 a.m. December 20 students can go back into the housing portal and select a room. Students will not be sent time slots. Once room selection opens at 10 a.m. students can log back into the housing portal and select their room.
  • Every effort is made to provide housing for transfer students who wish to live on campus, however, we are not able to guarantee housing for transfer students.
  • Lower campus space for transfer students is limited.
  • Transfer students wanting on-campus housing should anticipate living in the Apartments Community.

Room Selection closes January 10, 2020

Important Information

This is an INDIVIDUAL process. Roommate pairing is not possible during this process as there are not typically completely vacant double rooms available.

Throughout the housing process, communication will be sent exclusively through your Binghamton University email account. Please check your B-mail often for updates and process information.

All new first-year students are required to live on campus. They may live in any of our lower campus residential areas, but are not eligible to live in the Apartments Community.

Athletes, international students, foster youth and other students who are not able to leave campus during break periods (such as spring break) when the residence halls are closed should consider break housing in Delaware Hall (Newing College), Windham Hall (Mountainveiw College) or Mohawk Hall (College-in-the-Woods).

Housing Accommodations

Students with documented long-term or permanent disabilities or serious medical conditions may request housing accommodations through Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD). Residential Life has the most flexibility to work with and meet accommodations for students who apply for and receive their accommodation by December 11. Remember, it takes time to process an accommodation request so apply as early as possible.

Students who currently have a housing accommodation and plan to return to on-campus housing for 2020-2021 must re-apply for their accommodation.
