To become a certified teacher in New York state, teacher candidates must complete three specific workshops, in addition to completing an approved teacher education program and passing New York State Teacher Certification Exams (NYSTCE). Completion of certification workshops are both graduation and certification requirements. The Department of Teaching, Learning and Educational Leadership offers the PROJECT SAVE and Child Abuse workshops once per year (usually in November). DASA workshops operate on a variable schedule. Register online through the Continuing Education website.
