    ACM Competition Team

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) is an international learned society for computing. It was founded in 1947 and is the world's largest scientific and educational computing society. The Binghamton University chapter of the ACM runs computing events such as programming competitions, problem-solving workshops, tech talks, and workshops.

    ASME Student Competition Team

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is an international professional society that consists of professional engineers of many disciplines, people interested in the advancement of technology, and students. Through the Binghamton University Chapter, students are given the opportunity to get a first- hand look at today's industrial world. Students visit engineering companies and large manufacturing facilities.

    Binghamton Hyperloop Project Team

Hyperloop is a transportation concept stemming from SpaceX and Tesla founder, Elon Musk. Similar to banks' pneumatic tubes that send and receive packages, a Hyperloop pod glides at extreme speeds within a tube carrying people and goods. The tube's engineered environment and the pod's ability to levitate against the track allow the pod to travel at speeds of up to 700 mph. Hyperloop is the future of transportation–it's autonomous, environmentally friendly, and incredibly fast.

    HackBU Competition

HackBU is an organization at Binghamton University that fosters a community of students who work together on projects that they are passionate about, outside the classroom. We exist to mentor students, help them learn the technologies that interest them most and get them excited about computer programming and problem-solving.

    Human-Powered Vehicle Competition Team

Human-powered transport is often the only type available in underdeveloped or inaccessible parts of the world, and if well designed, can be an increasingly viable form of sustainable transportation. ASME's International Human Powered Vehicle Challenge (HPVC) provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate the application of sound engineering design principles in the development of sustainable and practical transportation alternatives. Students work in teams to design and build efficient, highly engineered vehicles for everyday use—from commuting to work to carrying goods to market.

    MicroMouse Competition Team

The MicroMouse competition consists of a student-designed robot that has ten minutes to make as many successful autonomous runs to the middle of a maze in a 10’x10’ space as it could with the fastest recorded as the official competition time. The robot is controlled with a flood-fill navigational algorithm and requires no further outside control after you press the start button.

    Mini-Baja Vehicle Program

Baja is an intercollegiate design competition run by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Teams of students from universities all over the world design and build small off-road cars. The goal of Baja is to design, build and race off-road vehicles that can withstand the harshest elements of rough terrain and to simulate real-world engineering design projects and their related challenges. Our Baja team must engineer, build, test, analyze, promote, fund-raise, and compete with a vehicle that conforms to the strict rules of the competition.

    Formula Internal Combustion Vehicle

The vehicle serves roles outside of SAE competitions. With showcase and autocross events throughout the year, the formula vehicle is used to inspire incoming students who are enthusiastic about the automotive field. Aside from inspiring, each iteration of the vehicle will act as a platform for students to learn and improve upon the design and performance of previous teams.

    Supermileage Vehicle Program

SAE Supermileage vehicle is an engineering design competition for undergraduate and graduate students. The program provides participants with the opportunity to enhance their engineering design and project management skills by applying learned classroom theories in a challenging competition. The engineering design goal for SAE Supermileage Vehicle is to develop and construct a single-person, fuel-efficient vehicle that complies with the competition rules. The vehicles will run a specified course to obtain the highest combined miles per gallon rating.
