Note: There is a $50 nonrefundable application fee. Binghamton accepts specific application fee waivers for students who meet certain criteria demonstrating economic need.

  2. Check Your Email and Activate Your Password

Beginning in October, after we receive your application, we'll email you a Reference Number and User ID. Once you receive these, activate your password. You must do this before you can successfully complete the rest of your application. Add to your email contact list to ensure you receive our emails. Don't forget to check your spam folder!

  3. Request Official Transcripts

    • Request that an official transcript from every college or educational institution you've attended since high school is mailed to the Admissions office. Faxed transcripts aren't considered official. Official transcripts can be submitted electronically or by mail to Binghamton University, Office of Undergraduate Admissions, P.O. BOX 6001, Binghamton, NY 13902-6001.

    • If you've earned fewer than 24 college credits after high school graduation at the time of application, your final, official high school transcript is required. You should request your official transcript from your high school to be submitted electronically or by mail to Binghamton University's Office of Undergraduate Admissions (address above). You will also have the option to provide ACT/SAT scores. All students must indicate on the Common Application or the SUNY application whether or not they want standardized SAT/ACT test scores included in the review of their overall application. If you wish to submit scores, have scores sent electronically from the testing service.

    • At the time of application, if you've earned more than 24 college credits after high school graduation you aren't required to submit a final high school transcript as part of the admissions application. However, once enrolled, you MUST submit a final transcript or GED certificate or your file isn't considered complete. Failure to submit a final transcript will prevent you from registering for courses in future semesters.

    • You may also be asked to submit a Course Progress Report (125k .pdf) during application review

    • Assess what coursework may transfer.

  4. Check Status Regularly

After we receive your application, we'll email you a Binghamton University Reference Number and User ID. Once you receive these, you'll need to activate your password, and then you can check your application status.

  5. Apply for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Spring 2024 admission: Complete the 2023-24 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)if you'd like to be considered for federal and/or New York state financial aid. The recommended filing date is November 15. Note: If you are already attending a school and using financial aid, simply update your FAFSA to include Binghamton. You do not need to submit a new FAFSA.

Fall 2024 admission: The Department of Education launched a new and simplified Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form for the 2024-25 year. The proposed changes will make it easier to apply for aid as well as reduce barriers to accessing federal aid.
