Group fitness

Group fitness classes are included in a fitness membership. Try all the classes, find an instructor and a class that best fit your goals and get a great workout!

Download the Campus Recreation App to mark classes as favorites, register for Spin or Pilates, get notifications and easily view the schedule of upcoming classes.

All classes are in the East Gym, Recreation Center.

Reservations

Spinning and Pilates classes require advanced registration, either online or through Campus Recreation's app for Android or Apple devices. Reservations can be made up to 48 hours in advance. If you're no longer able to come at your scheduled time, please cancel your reservation online so that others may attend.

  • Go to https://recreation.binghamton.edu/ or use the app, click the Reservations icon
  • All upcoming reservations are listed under the Upcoming heading
  • Find the booking you want to cancel, click the three dots and then Cancel Booking
  • Confirm your cancellation

Guidelines

Athletic attire is required at all times. Participants must also wear appropriate sneakers during all group fitness classes. Jeans, boots and sandals are not allowed.

Class descriptions

Classes are 45 minutes in length unless otherwise noted. Please note that the group fitness rooms will lock five minutes after the class begins to minimize disruptions.

CARDIO/STRENGTH COMBINATION

Boxing covers the fundamentals of the sweet science with punching technique, head movement, drilling and footwork, while keeping up a high pace and improving participant's conditioning.

Kickboxing combines martial arts techniques with fast-paced cardio for a total body workout, no equipment necessary.

Spinning® is a rhythmic, music-based indoor cycling class that focuses on endurance, strength, and intervals of varying intensity for a high energy workout. You must reserve your spot in class at recreation.binghamton.edu.

STRENGTH TRAINING

Barre fuses elements from Pilates, ballet and yoga for transformed hips, thighs, back and core.

BODYPUMP is a music-based barbell class that works all your major muscle groups using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition.

Pilates is a strengthening and lengthening form of mind-body exercise that emphasizes control, core strength and flexibility.

Strength and Toning is a full-body workout that engages every major muscle group through a blend of bodyweight exercises and equipment like resistance bands, free weights and BOSU balls.

YOGA

Yoga is a practice where smooth transitions between poses create a flow sequence. The class focus is on synchronizing your breath with movement to find calm and balance.

DANCE

Dance Cardio is a dance class that blends Latin and international rhythms for a fun and effective workout. 

VIRTUAL FITNESS

All virtual fitness classes take place in-studio in room EG-106 with a virtual instructor.

BODYCOMBAT is a martial arts-inspired workout that incorporates Karate, Taekwondo, Boxing, Muay Thai, Capoeira and Kung Fu.

BODYBALANCE is a Yoga-based workout with elements of Tai Chi and Pilates set to music. It will improve your mind, body and life.

BODYBALANCE STRENGTH is a Yoga-based workout with elements of Tai Chi and Pilates set to music. It will improve your mind, body and life. Focusing on strength.

CORE is a 30-minute core workout that uses resistance tubes, weight plates and body weight exercises.

GRIT is a 30-minute high-intensity interval training workout that focuses on building strength (STRENGTH), improving cardiovascular fitness (CARDIO) or increasing agility and athletic performance (ATHLETIC).

SH'BAM is a fun-loving and addicting dance workout. No experience necessary!
