New Students of Color Mentoring Program
About
This mentorship program will help enhance the college experience for first-year students of color by:
- Improving integration into the student’s selected field of study
- Reducing social barriers that impact motivation and persistence
- Expanding the student’s network of developmental mentoring relationships for long-term persistence and positive achievement outcomes.
The NSOCMP encourages mentors/mentees to meet in person at least three times a semester within their first two years on campus. Meetings can range from 30 minutes to an hour at an agreed mutual time and are spaces for questions, ideas, conversations and guidance. With mentors from a variety of different departments on campus, this program offers a wide array of opportunities and expertise!
