2022 SPRING AUDITION SCHEDULE

ORGAN — William Lawson

ORCHESTRA — Paul McShee

Auditions: Please sign up for an audition on the bulletin board outside Fine Arts room 111. The audition consists of: a) Major scales/rudiments; b) 2 – 3 minutes of a prepared published solo or etude chosen by the student to demonstrate their technique, tone and musicianship (no accompanist); and c) a brief sight-reading excerpt. WIND SYMPHONY — Daniel Fabricius

Auditions: Students who were members of the Wind Symphony for the fall semester do not need to re audition unless they want to be considered for advancement in  their seating.  New members can audition on January 24 or 25 by scheduling an audition appointment directly with the conductor. The audition consists of: a) Major scales/rudiments; b) 2 – 3 minutes of a prepared published solo or etude chosen by the student to demonstrate their technique, tone and musicianship (no accompanist); and c) a brief sight-reading excerpt. VOICE — Jean Goodheart and Thomas Goodheart (TA Graduate Voice Lesson Auditions)

*Auditions are for students who did not study last semester or that wish to change teachers.

Auditions: Please visit https://calendly.com/wculverh/vocal-audition to schedule an audition.  The audition consists of vocal exercises to determine your comfortable range, some echo patterns to check your ear, and some sight-singing. You may optionally sing a prepared song (a classical song, musical theater song, or a ballad is preferable) after the initial range vocalises.If you have a prepared song, please bring copies of the sheet music for the accompanist. You can also sing "My Country, 'Tis of Thee," if you wish. Email tgoodhea@binghamton.edu for more information.


CHORUS — William Culverhouse (HARPUR CHORALE and TREBLE CHORUS)

Auditions: Please visit https://calendly.com/wculverh/choir-only-audition to schedule an audition. The audition consists of vocal exercises to determine your comfortable range, some echo patterns to check your ear, and some sight-singing. A PREPARED SONG IS NOT NECESSARY FOR THE CHOIR AUDITION. JAZZ IMPROVISATION  — Michael Carbone

Auditions: Sign ups and registration for both entry level and experienced level improvisation classes will take place on Thursday, August 26th, at 4:30 p.m., in FA 24.  Please email mcarbone@binghamton.edu for more information.


HARPUR JAZZ ENSEMBLE — Michael Carbone

Auditions: Students audition by sitting in with the Jazz Ensemble. Auditions are held in FA  24 on Tuesday, February 1st starting at 7p.m. Students should bring instruments except for piano and drum set. Amplifiers provided.  Please email mcarbone@binghamton.edu for more information.

HARPUR STUDIO JAZZ BAND – Laurence Elder

Auditions: Students audition by sitting in with the Studio Jazz Band. Auditions are held
in FA 24 on Wednesday, February 2nd starting at 7 p.m. Students should bring instruments except for piano and drum set. Amplifiers provided.  Please email lelder@binghamton.edu for more information.
